BritDeath TV

TV mode is on: use the arrow buttons on your remote to move around.

Watch on your TV

Five ways to get BritDeath TV onto the big screen. Pick the one that matches what you've got.

On a TV's own browser, log in with a code instead of typing your password with the remote: go to britdeath.tv/tv on the TV, then britdeath.tv/link on your phone.

TV mode

Watching in a TV's own web browser? TV mode makes everything bigger and lets you move around with the remote's arrow buttons. It comes on by itself on most TVs.

Turn TV mode on

Chromecast and Google TV

From an Android phone or tablet, or Chrome on a laptop, to a Chromecast, a Google TV or a TV with Chromecast built in.

  1. Make sure your phone or laptop is on the same Wi-Fi as the TV.
  2. Open the show on britdeath.tv and press play.
  3. Tap the cast button in the player (a little TV screen with Wi-Fi waves in the corner).
  4. Choose your TV. The show moves to the TV and your phone becomes the remote.

You can lock your phone or use other apps: the show keeps playing on the TV.

On an iPhone or iPad, use AirPlay instead (below).

AirPlay (iPhone, iPad and Mac)

To an Apple TV, or a TV that works with AirPlay (many Samsung, LG, Sony and Panasonic TVs from the last few years do).

  1. Make sure your iPhone, iPad or Mac is on the same Wi-Fi as the TV.
  2. Open the show on britdeath.tv in Safari and press play.
  3. Tap the AirPlay button in the player (a screen with a triangle at the bottom).
  4. Choose your Apple TV or TV.

No AirPlay button? Open Control Centre, tap Screen Mirroring and choose the TV, then make the video full screen.

Amazon Fire TV Stick

Using the Silk web browser on the Fire TV Stick itself: no phone needed.

  1. On the Fire TV home screen, search for Silk and open the Silk Browser (download it free if it isn't there).
  2. Go to britdeath.tv/tv. The TV shows a 6-letter code.
  3. On your phone, go to britdeath.tv/link, type the code and approve it. The TV logs itself in.
  4. Move around with the arrow buttons on the remote and press the middle button to choose.
  5. Open a show, press play, then choose Full screen under the player.

Samsung and LG smart TVs

Using the TV's own web browser: no phone needed.

  1. Open the browser app: Internet on a Samsung TV, Web Browser on an LG TV.
  2. Go to britdeath.tv/tv. The TV shows a 6-letter code.
  3. On your phone, go to britdeath.tv/link, type the code and approve it. The TV logs itself in.
  4. Open a show, press play, then choose Full screen under the player.

Some older TV browsers can't play protected video. If a show won't start, cast it, AirPlay it or use a cable instead.

A laptop and an HDMI cable

Works with any TV that has an HDMI socket.

  1. Plug one end of an HDMI cable into the laptop and the other into the TV. (Many newer laptops need a USB-C to HDMI adapter.)
  2. Switch the TV to that HDMI input with its Source or Input button.
  3. If the laptop's screen doesn't appear: on Windows press the Windows key and P and choose Duplicate; on a Mac open System Settings, then Displays.
  4. Open the show on britdeath.tv, press play and choose Full screen.

If it doesn't work

  • The TV isn't in the list: check the phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi, then turn the TV and the cast stick off and on again.
  • The show plays without commentary on your phone but with it on the TV: the TV always plays the commentary version. Commentary Off only works when you watch on the device itself.
  • A show keeps buffering: move the router closer, or use a cable for the laptop.
  • Still stuck? Email support@britdeath.tv and tell us what you're watching on.
