Guide for promotions
How to get your shows on BritDeath TV and get paid for them. It takes about five minutes to read.
Getting started
- Not on BritDeath TV yet? Apply to join: a short form about your promotion. If it's a yes, the invite below follows.
- Your account. BritDeath TV emails you an invite. Create your account through the link (or log in, if you have one) and you're linked to your promotion straight away.
- Your profile. On your dashboard, Edit profile sets your promotion's name, where you run shows, a short bio, links and logo. Logos look best at 1920 × 1080; animated GIFs work too.
- Your bank. Open Stats and earnings, then Get paid, and link your bank account through Stripe. Do this early, so nothing's held up when your first payout is due.
Adding a show
On your dashboard, press Add a show. There are three steps: the show's details, the video, then sending it for approval.
- Details: the title and date are required. The venue, match card and description are optional but help fans find it: the library search covers wrestler names on the match card, so spell them the way they're billed (one match per line, in running order).
- Thumbnail: 1920 × 1080 (16:9), JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB. You'll see exactly how it'll be cropped before you save.
- Video: the full show as one file, up to 8 hours and 30 GB. MP4 (H.264) works best. It uploads straight from your computer; keep the page open while it goes. If it stops, choose the same file again and it carries on from where it got to.
Prices
You choose how fans can watch each show. Any combination works.
- In the subscription: subscribers (£4.99 a month) watch it at no extra cost, and you earn from the subscription money by watch time (see below).
- Rent: anyone can rent it. They have 30 days to start, then 3 days to watch it as often as they like. Suggested price: £3.49.
- Download: the buyer keeps the MP4 file for their own use (up to 3 downloads) and can watch it on BritDeath TV too. Subscribers can buy one as well. Suggested price: £9.99.
New shows start at £3.49 to rent and £9.99 to download. Change them, or clear a price to not offer that option. The minimum is £1.00. Bigger events might suit £3.99 and £12.99; shorter or older shows £1.99 and £5.99.
Approval and going live
- Once the video has finished processing, press Send for approval. BritDeath TV watches it and either approves it or asks for changes. You get an email either way.
- Go-live time: leave it blank to go live as soon as it's approved, or set a UK date and time. Until then it's listed on the Schedule page so fans can see what's coming.
- After it's live: you can still change the title, description, thumbnail and prices; changes show straight away. To fix or swap the video, upload a new one: fans keep watching the current one until BritDeath TV approves the replacement.
- Videos only play on BritDeath TV, and each viewer's link only works on their own connection, which makes copying harder.
How you earn
Rentals and downloads
You get 90% of every rental and download, after the card fee (Stripe's, usually around 1.5% plus 20p) and any refunds.
Subscriptions
Each month, the subscription money is added up. Stripe's card fees and the site's running costs come off, BritDeath TV keeps 20%, and the other 80% is shared between promotions by how many minutes paying subscribers spent watching each promotion's shows.
Only real viewing by paying subscribers counts, and there are checks in place to keep it fair for every promotion. Your own team watching your shows doesn't count.
If a sale or subscription is refunded or charged back, it comes off your earnings. If you've already been paid for it, it comes off your next payout.
Getting paid
- Your earnings are paid monthly. After a month ends, BritDeath TV publishes the month's statement and sends payouts early the next month. There's no minimum.
- Payouts go through Stripe to the bank account you linked. Stripe charges £2.10 plus 0.5% per payout, taken from the payout. If a month's earnings are smaller than that, they carry over.
- You get an email when a payout is sent. Stripe usually pays it into your bank within a few working days.
- Stats and earnings shows this month so far, every month's statement, what's been paid, and how each of your shows is doing.
- Stripe holds your bank details and checks who you are. BritDeath TV never sees your bank details.
